Every year the Smithsonian's horticultural division and the U.S. Botanic Garden collaborate to create a great orchid show. This year's show, "Orchids, A Moment", is held at the Hirshhorn Museum, which is part of the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History. The display of more than 100 orchids will change throughout the exhibition.
For more details, see the article by Adrian Higgins "Chase away the winter blues at the Hirshhorn's orchid show", in the Washington Post.
Carol Woodin's watercolor painting of the Cypripedium retinae (Showy Lady's Slipper) appears in the BAEE book Native Plants of the Mid Atlantic.
